How to set Do Not Track on Mozilla Firefox 5

Mozilla Firefox 5 includes the Do Not Track feature to give users more control over the way their browsing behavior is tracked and used on the Web. The feature, which lets users tell websites that they wish to opt-out of online behavioral tracking, is now easier to find in Firefox Preferences.

If you want to activate the Do Not Track feature, you can open the Firefox Options, click on the Privacy tab, and check the Tracking check-box to tell the websites that the user does not want to be tracked.

Mozilla co-sponsored the W3C Workshop on Web Tracking and User Privacy last month, along with Adobe, Google, Microsoft and Yahoo. From the perspective, the workshop was very well organized and covered a lot of ground in a few days. The W3C stated last week that “…the points of agreement suggest that real interoperable progress on tracking protection - the kind that will help the average end user’s privacy - is on the way.”
