Facebook Places to share your location with friends

Places is a Facebook feature that allows you to see where your friends are and share your location in the real world. When you use Places, you'll be able to see if any of your friends are currently checked in nearby and connect with them easily. You can check into nearby Places to tell your friends where you are, tag your friends in the Places you visit, and view comments your friends have made about the Places you visit. Use Places to experience connecting with people on Facebook in a completely new way.



At this time, the Places application is available to users in countries with mobile access to the Facebook application for iPhone, Android, Blackberry v1.9, or touch.facebook.com. Places will be rolled out more broadly and to other mobile devices and the web in the future. Please make sure that you are using the most up-to-date software version for your iPhone, Android, or mobile device or the Places application may not function properly. Alternatively, you can access the Places application through your device’s web browser by following these steps:

• Point your browser to http://touch.facebook.com.
• Tap the Places tab.
• When you are prompted to share your location, tap "Share Location."

If you are still experiencing problems, please note that you may not yet be able to use the Places application because it is a new feature that is being gradually rolled out. In the meantime, you can check The Facebook Blog for updates on product launches and other Facebook-related stories.

To edit or delete a Place you have created, go to the Place page on the web and click "Edit Page" in the top right corner. From here, you will be able to edit the Place's name and description or delete the Place. Keep in mind that you will only be able to edit or delete the Place within a limited time after creation.

A Place page shows you a map of where the Place is located, a list of friends who are currently checked in at the Place (if any), as well as a Friend Activity stream of other friends who have visited the Place in the past.

Please note that if you are checked in at a Place and you have not turned off "Include me in "People Here Now" after I check in" in your privacy settings, you’ll appear in the Here Now section of the Page, which is visible to your friends and other people checked in nearby. If the Place page has been claimed by the official representative, the Place page will contain additional relevant information about the Place if it’s available. You can post a story about the Place page to your profile by clicking the "Share" button on the bottom left of the page.
